Our initial plan was actually to go to St. Anne for night market but since its already 7pm and the market closed at 8, we cancelled our plan because its not worth 40 mins trip. So we headed out to St. Rose instead searching of Creole food.
The first restaurant was closed so we heading further up on the way to Plage de la Perle for 2nd restaurant. However, 2nd restaurant also closed. On the way to the 2nd restaurant, we noticed that there's a creole restaurant so we turned back and search for it.
The restaurant called L'etoile De Mer which located on the right side of the road when u heading to Plage de la Perle. Nothing fancy here, its just neighborhood restaurant which is only few things on its menu. I wanted to try Lambis this time but the owner told us that she has lambis on different day and tonight special is Beef Ragout and Grilled fish.
We are the only customer when we arrived so we pretty sure we don't have to wait for an hour this time. Slowly people coming in but they all just came to hangout and for a drinks.
We took grilled fish for me and beef ragout for Nico, and as we expected our food arrived after 30mins.

My grilled fish was accompanied by rice and salad. Since i didn't eat pork we usually will go through some interrogation with the cook or waitress either there's any pork in my food. So this is usually how i know whats actually inside every single meal. My rice was cook with peas and totally vegetarian. Its look like briyani to me but the taste was pretty special since this is the first time i tried it.
Fish (im not sure what type of fish) was cooked perfectly and i was thankful that it didn't smell or taste fishy. It might be because the owner put a lot of lemon in it but still not overwhelmed the flavor. The taste is perfect and just nice. Overall, its more like a home meal standard instead of restaurant quality food.
Nico beef ragout was pretty decent except a little bit salty on his fries. The meat also tender knowing that its a local beef and not imported. But what we enjoyed most on tonight's dinner was the warm welcome of the owner. She came and check on us at least 3 times and take her time to talk with us. She's sound so proud telling us that everything in our plate is locally produce and even told us to come on check fish market in St. Rose every saturday morning. She smiles a lot and we left the restaurant with full stomach and happy face.

(L'exotic Restaurant Lamentin)

After leaving St.Anne beach, we went directly home, showered and heading out for our first creole dinner at L'exotic restaurant. This restaurant located by the road side heading to Lamentin city center and in the evening, there's a light on its sign, so you wont missed it. When we arrived at the restaurant it was 8.40pm and i rush Nico to choose his food fast because i know french dinner can be long and me being Malaysian i need my food ASAP.
So, we ordered our main dish at 8,55pm (i keep on checking my watch because i hate dining out in France, its unnecessarily long) and only get our food 1 hour later. We didn't order any appetizer or aperetif before because we are so hungry after swimming and the rain just stopped.
There were 4 tables occupied and 12 customers including us, we didn't realize that all of them haven't get their food. 5 mins past, then 10, then 20. We get impatient and i make fun of Nico since he always complaining last time we are in Borneo that the service is slow. Even its slow back there in Malaysia, we finished everything in an hour, arrived, sit, ordered, eat and leave. I wore short skirt and since the restaurant is outdoor, mosquito having a feast on my legs. Oh Mon Dieu.
I ordered prawn fricasse and Nico took some grilled tuna with creole sauce. Nico was a bit worry when he saw that people on the other table don't even finished their food. We already waited for long and need a good food. He looked at me and said "we not coming back here right?"
At 10pm, our food finally arrived (I never ate dinner at 10pm in Malaysia, its already supper for us). There's some kind of pan fried mashed potatoes with rice, salad and 2 slice of banana as side dishes. Its a weird combination to me but it works (or maybe because we are hungry?) We dig in immediately before i remembered that i haven't take any picture. My prawn fricasse was a lil bit too salty so i didnt eat so much of its sauce, its also taste similar to bouillabaisse. The food was actually pretty decent and we finished it all in 10mins.
We left the restaurant as soon as we finished eating, we are so tired and the owner was surprised that we leave so soon. Me and Nico already make an agreement that we will dine out every wednesday for creole food and we can only hope that its not a culture here to get our main dish after an hour wait.
