Plage de L'Anse du Souffleur, Port-Louis, Guadeloupe

Sunday
18/09/16

I am battling to give this beach the first or my 2nd best beach in Guadeloupe. Definitely need few more trip to both St. Anne beach and Plage de L'Anse du Souffler in Port-Louis to decided.

Port-Louis is not far from Lamentin and closer than St. Anne. We were amazed by the turquoise color of the ocean when we turned the first corner heading to the beach. We are not really sure at first if we heading the right away just by following the signboard. There's few area along the beach which people hangout and thats enough to create the confusion. Nico check his guide book and after arriving at the beach with cemetery right on it we can be sure that we finally there.

I was a little bit disappointed when we arrived and keep on telling Nico that we might be at the wrong place since it didn't look as nice as the previous area we saw on the way. As if the ocean heard my complaint, he asked the sun to switch on the light and voila, the beautiful turquoise water appeared.

The great thing about this beach is, less people, a lot of tree to take cover, water is clean from seaweed and the view is amazing, seriously amazing. By late afternoon, if you stay long at the beach, you need to be aware of yen-yen. I dont know what they called this thing in english and if yen-yen is even english word. Its a small insect that bites and left you itchy. Its itch as bad as mosquito bites or maybe more. This yen-yen thingy is not only at port-louis but everywhere in guadeloupe especially when u stay under the tree (other than coconut tree). Its somehow came out at late afternoon to remind you that its time to go home hahahhaha

what do you think? Yay or nay?

Playing tourist at St.Francois, Guadeloupe

Saturday
17/09/16

Nico cant help checking weather report all the time, he is french after all and again this week we are pretty devastated since the report says its 75% chances that its going to be rain. So we woke up saturday morning and its sunny. I told him we shouldn't trust the weather report anymore and just believe what we saw when we open up the window.

We actually plan our plan B first, which is to go to Memorial ACTe since its supposed to rain. So we didn't have plan A and anything to take for picnic. But the weather is good and its such a waste to spend our time indoor, so we just grab a towel n off to St. Francois.

Our first stop is La Zagaya restaurant for lunch (check my other post for this restaurant) and we went straight to Point des Chateaux afterwards. It was one hot and humid afternoon, it was so hot so its also means the view is nice.

We then take a walk to the clifftop, i didn't want to do it at first since its mid afternoon, hot and humid ( we Malaysian really hate to walk in the heat and sweat) but i don't want to disappoint Nico at the same time. So i told myself this will be the first and the last time i went up there lol. The walk wasn't so hard but its the weather which make it difficult, its feel like walking in the oven. No wind and its owh-so-hot.

on the clifftop. There were dead chicken with missing head when we  were there.

We went straight to the beach right after Pointe des Chateaux to cool down. There's plenty of area that you can stop along the way to the cliff. We didn't bother to check and went directly to Plage des Raisins Clairs which is one of famous beach in St. Francois.

Plage des raisins clairs is also rich in turquoise color, surprisingly not many people at the beach but when you think how many beach they have here, people definitely scattered around. And those tourist or played tourist like us will choose to go to the famous beaches first before checking the rest.

All in all, its another great day at the beach.

Pigeon Island Guadeloupe

Sunday
11/09/16

It was raining yesterday and we couldn't do much except doing house chores and some shopping. Since we arrived in Guadeloupe, we haven't went to any snorkeling trip and unfortunately weather report says that its goin to be raining this weekend and we are pretty disappointed.

We woke up late sunday morning expected that its going to be raining but surprisingly it was hot and sunny. So as usual, we pack our lunch and drove to Bouillante in Basse-terre to Plage de Malendure.

If you are not sure that you are at the right beach, just stop at the first beach you came across with a lot of car parked along the road. The area can be crowded if u came in the afternoon but you still can find place to park your car.

Plage de Malendure is not so big but there's not many people too. This is also the starting point for people who wish to go for diving and snorkeling. You can go diving, snorkeling and boat tour by arrange it with many operator at the beach.

The sea in Basse-Terre lacked of turquoise color compared to those in Grand-terre which is due to volcano activity that change the color around the island. But nevertheless, the water still nice and clear. This is also the beach that we heard we could see many turtles if we snorkeling a little bit further from the beach, but since we came in the afternoon, we doubt we will see any.

We took a little swim after lunch and decided to go snorkeling at Pigeon Island instead of around the beach. It didn't look there's anything much to see and i am so keen to see a good snorkeling area.  So we rent a kayak for 25 euro per pax at the beach and off to pigeon island.

Pigeon island is beautiful and its also a national park. It is forbidden for visitors to take anything from the island even if it is a small shell. There's 2 small beaches at this island where you can PARKED your kayak and directly snorkeling from the beach. The good news is, there's not many people do kayak and you almost have the entire island for yourself. There are people coming for diving (and they are underwater) and boat tour who did snorkeling service, but this island is still far from being crowded. We had a very good afternoon snorkeling from this 2 beach and also at the other area behind the hill where they called the aquarium.

Reaching the island, see how clear the water is?

Plenty of fish around

if u fast enough you can grab the fish and have bbq, lol

The aquarium behind, its stony area. Handle with care

2nd beach with a lot of parking area

First beach where snorkeling is the best, but kayak parking is limited

Unfortunately, we didnt get to see any turtle on this trip probably since its late afternoon and turtle usually came out in the morning. better luck next time.
